A new shoot was to spring up
out of the branch of Jesse,
the stump down in the ground
hidden below, the dormant root
hidden from the wrath
From this would come the saving,
the new covenant
between God and man,
reclaiming the inheritance,
the promise to David
a kingdom forevermore
for the faithful
