Hope for the Sinners by Raymond A. Foss

He offered them, for us
hope for the sinners
even at the moment
of his own agony
Hearing their cries
for answers to their prayers
hope for the criminals
hanging on the cross
beside him, in judgment
hope of forgiveness, of grace
that we would see him
in paradise, on the day
of our own dying
With a word from the savior
one of them was saved
while on the wooden cross
There is the same hope
for us all, from the risen savior
living still, now,
at the right hand of God

March 21, 2008
Luke 23:32-43 and
mediation by Pastor Ruth L. Foss,
part of afternoon Good Friday service,
Wesley United Methodist Church,
