this flawed patriarch, Jacob,
stealing a birthright, usurper
Holding on for a blessing,
a blessing from God,
at morning light
From that blessing,
a new name, Israel
From this blessing,
a blessing for a whole nation
in him the covenant revealed
through him the nation born
