The picture on the bulletin
the devastation caught in miniature
a handful of people
standing before a bit of rubble deep
The two figures in the front
in the center of the photograph
calling out from within their souls
“What do we do now?”

In awesome realization,
the world joins their cry
wondering how to deal
with a tragedy so wide
living on a moving earth
where man-made buildings
tumble like matchsticks
utter ruin, despair
with the shifting of the ground
